Electrical Engineer
Project Engineer to support Power Transmission & Distribution and Renewable Energy Development Projects throughout the US. The candidate will be responsible for the detailed Substation Physical and Protection & Control design for transmission and distribution voltage substation projects.
Work Description:
Engineering: Perform complete physical electrical design including physical arrangement, electrical schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, grounding calculations, grounding details, conduit and wire schedules, bill of materials, AC Station Service sizing, battery sizing, major equipment specifications, and client’s required project documentation. Work on CAD, CYME, to design electrical systems, protection, control and substation design for complex engineering projects.
Prepare or support development of complete protection and control design package including one-line, three-line, DC and AC schematics, wiring diagrams, relay panel layouts, equipment interconnection wiring diagrams, communications system architecture diagrams, circuit schedules and client’s required project documentation
Project tasks: coordinating with CAD designers to develop organized, quality CAD drawings preparation and maintenance of project status reports; attend project meetings, coordinate tasks with other disciplines, clients and vendors. Candidate will also be interacting with clients and building officials during the course of design. Prepare calculations packages for grounding, relay and protection coordination, AC and DC, service sizing, CT saturation, Short circuit, Arc Flash and Power Factor / Load Flow.
Construction support: Review and respond to RFIs and field changes; construction documentation; submittal reviews; test result reviews; etc. Occasional travel to site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs
Business Development: Support proposal and estimate preparation, customer relations, presentations and follow ups, etc.
Desired Qualifications:
Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from US University or equivalent. Experience: 2+ yrs. exp.
Travel: Relocate to unanticipated site. No national/international travel.
Licensure: PE desired
Codes & Standards: NEC, NESC, IEEE
Software Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
Personal Skills: Good written and oral communications skills, presentation skills, business development skills, organized, and self-starter.
Business or Project management skills: Capable of handling several projects at one time. Prior experience in project management is helpful.
Travel: some travel required
